Brett Piontek was born August 4, 1984 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Randy and Mary Ellen Piontek. From little on he enjoyed life in the fast lane. Brett started his racing career when he was only seven years old racing go-carts in Dousman, Wisconsin. He continued to race go-carts for two seasons. After his stint in go-cart racing, he took up fishing and hunting until he was seventeen, when the need for speed returned. He and his father decided to build an IMCA Stock Car to race at the local dirt tracks in northeast Wisconsin. He raced the full 2002 season at the Manitowoc County Fair Grounds and the Door County Fair Grounds that year. During his first and only year on dirt, he brought home several heat wins and one feature win from the Manitowoc County Fairs Grounds. He also captured rookie of the year honors at Manitowoc.
In 2003, Brett and his father, Randy, owner of Bay Motorsports, decided to resurrect Bay Motorsports and take their racing ambition to asphalt once again. The Bay Motorsports car with it's rookie asphalt driver, perfomed to expectations during the 2003 race year. Organizing a new team and pulling the old organization out of mothballs proved challenging but rewarding. A driver's rookie year on asphalt and larger tracks begins with many unanswered questions. Randy has been around racing the majority of his adult life and has built cars for seven drivers that had successful racing careers in not only NASCAR Winston Cup, but also other racing series giving him plenty of opportunity to be skeptical about the future with a rookie driver.
Brett answered the call of duty on April 24, 2003 at Elko, Minnesota in his first asphalt race by not only making the main event of the evening, but also finishing three positions better than where he started. The remainder of the 2003 season in the Mid America series proved to be very successful for Brett. Overall in the series, he finished fourth in points by racing consistently throughout the season. The highlight of Brett's 2003 racing season was being the fast qualifier, by breaking the track record, in Sauk Center, Minnesota in September. He also brought home a second place finish from Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wisconsin and Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin. Brett's first trip to the Milwaukee Mile was a memorable experience when he finished sixth on his first mile track.
In the 2004 racing season, Brett raced the full schedule of events for the Mid America Stockcar series and two races in the ASA Late Model series. His accomplishments in the Mid American Stockcar series 17 races were: A win at Road America, 3 fast times, 10 top 10 finishes. His accomplishments in the ASA Late Model series 2 races were: 7 at Mansfield and 14 at IRP.
